10 Pastries

Ingredients

  • 250g Low-Carb Flour
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • 2 tsp Cream of Tartar
  • 1 tsp Bicarbonate of Soda
  • 60g Butter
  • 50g Grated Cheddar Cheese
  • 60ml Milk

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C.
  2. Put the flour, salt, cream of tartar and butter into a mixer (or rub together with your fingertips!) until a sand-type texture is achieved.
  3. Add in the grated cheddar cheese.
  4. Mix together and add a dash of milk (or a milk alternative). Keep adding a dash at a time until it all comes together. Optionally, add a dash of cream.
  5. There's no need to roll it out. Squash it down using your hands to around 4cm thick and use a round cutter. It should make about 10 rounds.
  6. If you are using it as a pie base, press into a pie dish.
  7. Brush them with egg then sprinkle some more cheese on top before baking at 200°C for 15 minutes.
